Verklikkerstrand - Nature

The Verklikkerstrand lies on the edge of the Verklikkerduinen. This expansive, natural beach is known as one of the most beautiful and quietest in Zeeland.
- Wide and natural: A clean, wide beach with no promenade, beach clubs or crowds – pure nature.
- Plenty of space: Even on peak summer days it never feels crowded or overwhelming here.
- Seal spotting: At low tide, seals can often be seen resting on the sandbanks.
- Verklikkerplaat: Just offshore lies the Verklikkerplaat, a large sandbar that partly falls dry at ebb. Seals often rest here and birds forage. Walking may seem tempting, but it is dangerous: the sea can rise by metres in a short time, leaving you trapped.
- Verklikkerduinen: Combine your beach visit with a walk through the nearby Verklikkerduinen – a rugged and quiet nature reserve with valleys, high dunes and special flora.
- Unique nature: The Verklikkerstrand is part of the Natura 2000 area Kop van Schouwen, home to rare birds and plants.
Seasonal experience
- Spring: Peace and early beach walks, with many birds along the tide line.
- Summer: Sun, space and unspoilt nature – ideal for peace seekers and families.
- Autumn: Wide skies, strong sea winds and migrating birds.
- Winter: A raw, quiet landscape where you almost have nature to yourself.
